Subsea Integrity Team Leader
ADMA

10.00 Reviewing History Of Lines Leaked In Service And Providing Mitigation Measures

Based on a history review conducted by ADGAS of all previous pipeline leaks that occurred in service from 2000 - 2008, this session will:

  • Determine the most repeated failure modes and highlight the repeated damage mechanisms
  • Determine the best prevention mitigation methods to prevent inservice leaks
  • Ensure the continuity of production and meet the ADGAS objective of zero leak policy

Ahmed Al Bosaeedi & Mahmoud Selim
Senior Corrosion and Materials Engineers
ADGAS

10.45 Networking And Refreshments

11.15 Utilizing Direct Assessment And Field Data As A Tool To Evaluate Pipeline Integrity

  • Use of pipeline leak history
  • Pipe-to-soil potential historical record
  • Use of DCVG/CIPS data
  • Correct interpretation of data to identity dig-ups
  • Use of NDT as tool for assessment

General Manager
Sui Southern Gas Company

Maintenance and Rehabilitation: Integrity of aging pipelines

12.00 Is measuring metal loss only sufficient for guaranteeing 12.00 integrity of older pipelines?

The stress occurring in older pipelines may accumulate to levels in excess of the Minimum Specified Yield Stress due to a combination of small anomalies along with other stresses in the pipe wall. Pipelines that have a limited (and determined) life span are prone to lesser risk compared to pipelines that are kept alive as long as they are economically viable.

This presentation will provide solutions for the integrity of aging pipelines.

Cees Cornelis Bal
CEO
LIN SCAN

12.45 Networking Lunch

13.45 Panel Discussion: Interact With Speakers Of The Day In An Informal Discussion On Key Issues In Pipeline Integrity Such As:

Advanced techniques and technologies for enhanced inspection and monitoring of pipelines
Optimizing the maintenance and rehabilitation of aging pipelines
Improving the integrity of offshore pipelines

14.30 Development Of Appropriate Inspection And Maintenance Options To Mitigate Microbial Induced Corrosion (MIC) In Oil Pipelines.

MIC is acknowledged as playing a role in corrosion of offshore oil systems. Yet there is no established procedure for assessing the susceptibility to MIC of a system under threat from SRB or to its effective control and mitigation.

Based on experience with a number of offshore pipeline systems, this paper will address:

  • Risk assessment approaches to establish the susceptibility to and severity of MIC
  • Effectiveness of techniques for both the detection and monitoring of MIC (production chemistry, biocide and inhibition regimes, in-line inspection, external inspection)
  • Development of appropriate inspection and maintenance options to mitigate MIC

Dr. John Healy
Principal Consultant / Director
MACAW Engineering

15.15 Networking And Refreshments

15.45 Optimizing Maintenance And Rehabilitation Of Aging Pipelines

  • Cost efficient solutions to ensure quality and safe maintenance of pipelines during operations
  • Evaluating integrity of existing pipelines and costs associated with repairs and rehabilitation
  • Conducting detailed assessments on construction and maintenance for higher production
